Pennsylvania has a rich industrial history. Opportunities for economic redevelopment are showcased in DEP's series of Brownfield Success Stories. A collection of videos feature interviews with public and private partners who describe the vision, planning and re-use of former industrial sites and how challenges were met and overcome. All of DEP's Brownfield videos are located on YouTube.

The Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields Program held four half-day seminars in March and April 2014 in the Southeast, North-central, Northwest and Southwest regions. Over 140 local officials and businesses attended the free seminars and learned about successful redevelopment projects in their area; Brownfields 101; Act 2 Land Recycling overview; funding opportunities through Department of Community and Economic Development; additional funding and grant programs; and PA SiteSearch database of properties.

The Brownfield Development Guide draws on DEP's 18 years of experience in cleaning up more than 4,760 sites and outlines the full spectrum of services and resources available for the often complex steps involved in redeveloping brownfield properties. It seeks to assist a broad audience of private industry, state and local agencies, economic development agencies and redevelopment authorities, local officials, communities, property owners, developers and other stakeholders. DEP fosters and helps to build public-private partnerships, which have proven critical for the timely completion of successful projects.
