Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program: Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Rebates
The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Program provides rebates to consumers for the purchase of new plug-in hybrid, plug-in electric, natural gas, propane and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Rebate Guidance
DEP is currently accepting applications via our
eGrants electronic application submission process. Please be sure to select
Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program (AFVR) in the application system.
Only Pennsylvania residents are eligible for a rebate. Companies are not eligible to receive a rebate.
Consumers may submit applications for up to 6 months after the date of purchase. Consumers should be aware that funds may be depleted before their rebate application can be processed. Please be advised that this program is a rebate and not a tax credit.
The program offered will be reassessed on June 30, 2019.
The program offers rebates of up to $2,000 for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Battery Electric Vehicles, and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles. Actual rebate amount is determined by vehicle battery system capacity. Please see the program guidance for details.
Original End Manufactured and Certified Retrofit Natural Gas and Propane Vehicles are eligible for a $1,000 rebate.
One-time preowned AFV with 75,000 miles or less are eligible to receive a rebate of $750. Please see the program guidance for details.
An additional rebate of $500 is available on all vehicles for applicants meeting low-income requirements. Please see the program guidance for details.
Leased alternative fuel vehicles are eligible for a rebate.
