Watershed Restoration Action Strategies (WRAS)

Watershed Restoration Action Strategies (WRAS's) were developed in cooperation with federal, state and local agencies, watershed-based organizations and the public for those watersheds most in need of restoration. WRAS's are described as plans to restore watersheds that do not meet clean water, natural resource and public health goals. Federal Clean Water Act Section 319 grant funds received from U.S. EPA were targeted beginning in 1998 and continuing through 2002-2003 to those watersheds most in need of restoration as identified in Pennsylvania's Unified Watershed Assessment and for which WRAS's have been developed. WRAS's are dynamic documents that will be updated regularly as more information becomes available and as remediation measures are implemented and water quality improvements are documented.
