The 2017 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence is open to any Pennsylvania business, farm, government agency, educational institution, non-profit organization and individual that has created, or participated in, the development of a project that promotes environmental stewardship and economic development in the state. Each project may submit one application. Projects that have previously received a Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence are not eligible for this award. Past winners may submit new projects for consideration.
Projects will be evaluated and selected for awards based on nine criteria including: degree of protection, partnership, public service, environmental education and outreach, pollution prevention, economic impact, innovative technology, climate change, and sustainability.
To be eligible for consideration, projects must have been completed between August 1, 2015, and July 31, 2016. Please use the application and black project summary form linked below to describe your project. Applicants may submit additional supporting documents (i.e., photos, graphs, charts, etc.) but limit them to three pages.
All applications and project summaries must be submitted by Tuesday, January 3, 2017, to RA-EPgovenviroawards@pa.gov.
Questions regarding applications can be directed to the Department of Environmental Protection’s Policy Office, 717-783-8727.
